Hello! We are the Ahrendts – your hosts here at Half Moon Trail Resort. We have happily called this place home since 2015, when we moved here from the Twin Cities. Prior to owning and running the resort, we lived and worked in the Minneapolis area. I (Ryan) worked in the construction industry, managing residential building and remodeling projects; and Liz worked as a primary teacher at a charter school in Ramsey until our daughter, Mabel, was born. Our last endeavor in the cities was buying and flipping a little rambler in St. Louis Park before we moved up here!
When I was 10, my parents (Dave and Mary) purchased the resort and began their 19 year tenure in resorting. I loved working alongside them and was able to develop a whole smorgasbord of skills and life lessons throughout the years as I gleaned from Mom and Dad. Having a beautiful lake out my back door wasn’t bad either! Liz and I are very grateful we get to raise our family the same way.
My parents now live a mile down the lake and are still actively involved with the resort. Mom is the mastermind behind the beautiful gardens that lace the property, and I am currently her apprentice! Dad helps us navigate the business aspect of the resort, and is our sounding board for new ideas. We appreciate their experience and respect their thoughts and are so grateful to have them close. Liz’s parents recently bought a house on the lake, as well, and have moved up from the twin cities. Our four beautiful daughters, Mabel, Mary Kate, Caroline, and Sadie are blessed to have so much family nearby!
Over the years, our family has developed wonderful relationships with many of our guests. This is one of the highlights of owning and running this unique family business. Each summer, we anticipate the return of many past guests, and look forward to meeting new ones. Our family and staff truly love to serve our guests, and we hope to make your week at the lake your best vacation yet.
